Supporting Multilingual Classrooms (Young migrants)

d. 24-25 august 2018

This initiative provides training workshops to help member states ensure access to quality education for migrant learners which will help bridge the attainment gap between these learners and non-migrant pupils - highly developed linguistic competences become key transversal competences to support learning, employability and social cohesion.

This training and consultancy activity will help bridge the attainment gap between these learners and non-migrant pupils by drawing on a wide range of successful ECML projects and resources which focus on the linguistic integration of these learners. In addition, this initiative will expand the online inventory of Open Educational Resources – one of the key outputs of the previous initiative, ICT-REV, – through the inclusion of resources in languages other than English in support of multilingual classrooms.

Relating language curricula, tests and examinations to the Common European Framework of Reference (RELANG)

d. 5-6 April 2018

The RELANG initiative offers training to stakeholders in the Member States of the European Union and the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) in relating language tests and examinations to the CEFR in a valid way and exploring relationships between foreign language curricula and the CEFR.

In recent years the Council of Europe‘s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has become a powerful instrument for shaping language education policies. The growing acceptance and use of the CEFR levels of language proficiency has created a situation in which, all over Europe, public bodies, examination institutes, language schools and university departments seek to relate their foreign language curricula and examinations to the CEFR.

The programme for the ECML training and consultancy in Copenhagen 5-6 April 2018 is available here.
All seats are currently taken, but you can register for the waiting list by sending an email to ContactPoint@ecml.dk. Deadline 19 March 2018.

26. – 27. oktober 2017, PluriMobil Report

PluriMobil: Plurilingual and intercultural learning through mobility

PluriMobil is a teaching tool that off ers practical resources to teachers, teacher trainers, international offi cers and other stakeholders to help them support students at all stages of a mobility project: before, at the preparatory stage, during the mobility activity itself and after the activity. The resources support all kinds of mobility projects, including school exchanges, study-abroad projects, work placements or cooperation via ICT.

The aim of PluriMobil is to develop students’ ability to discover other languages, cultures and people, and new areas of knowledge. We hope that their mobility activities will also be part of their personal development as individuals. To this end, PluriMobil’s pedagogical tools aim to improve students’ communicative and plurilingual skills, enhance their intercultural competence and expand their language awareness and language learning strategies.

PluriMobil consists of five sets of lesson plans, a Quick start guide, a Handbook, which are freely available in English and in French on the project website.
